How I used the Netgate RCC VE-4860 as firewall

This is just some various documents for the Proectli VP2430 I use as my home firewall.

Hardware

  • Intel N150 (4 cores, to 3,6 GHz)
  • 4 * Intel I226-V
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 32GB soldered eMMC storage
  • No fans, passive cooling
  • External power supply
  • Coreboot opensource BIOS

Software

  • Running Debian 13 Trixie
  • Using iptables for firewall rules
  • Have a delegated IPv6 prefix, split into smaller prefixes, and handed out to my internal networks
  • Using radvd to handle IPv6 internal networks
  • Running ISC KEA dhcp server for IPv4, using DDNS to update DNS
  • Running Bind9 for internal DNS resolution
